Start by looking up the Canadian Canoe Route and the National Parks website. www.pc.ga.ca.com.
Amongst the numerous sites below, they recommend guided tours on Kejimkujik National Park in the far east (Atlantic) coast of Canada on the Nova Scotia peninsular. And le Maurice in Quebec.
Ontario.
Emony Nicholls environment expert and range has paddled extensively in Ontario.
“Georgian Bay is accessible with cottages to rent and it’s a UNESCO site so its’ one of my favourite places in the world but not easy to navigate as a beginner. For new paddlers Algonquin park is the safest bet. Lots of moose there which everyone loves.”

In Ontario one of the most popular and beautiful canoe trips is in the Algonquin Provincial Park. https://www.ontarioparks.com/park/algonquin
Other popular areas include:
The Thousand Islands. Ontario.

Emony describes the French River, ‘The French Rier is a favourite and historically interesting.”
As are Georgian Bay and Quetico Provincial Park.

An environment expert Emony has worked in Quetico so knows the challenges of these wild but beautiful places. “A gem, remote and you need to know what you’re doing but stunning’.
North West Territories and Nunavut – Arctic Region.
If you want to be really hard core, adventurous you could head up to the Arctic Circle. Emony reminds me that the further north you go, the more expensive. Emony has paddled the Mackenzie River in the North West Territories.
The Thelon River is remote, and breathtaking. I mention this, specifically, because my Uncle paddled this river in the 1960s when it was truly wild. If you are considering paddling these areas it is essential to have a guide.
Sirmilik Park, Nunavut.
Sirmilik is the ultimate Arctic adventure under the Midnight Sun.
Amid an expansive landscape of glaciers, valleys and red-rock hoodoo spires, nesting seabirds crowd sheer sea cliffs rising from iceberg-dotted waters. Paddle among seals and floating ice, listening for the breaths of narwhal and beluga whales. Ski across glaciers. Hike where snowy owls hunt. Travel by snowmobile to the floe edge on the lookout for polar bears, ringed seals and walruses. Stop in at Inuit, Thule and European cultural sites.Northwest Territories
Those who canoe in the North West Territories report seeing brown bears, beavers, moose and eagles. (Close to the Arctic Circle. Wild country).
Nahanni River

Emony; “The Nahanni is a popular northern route due to the falls along the way. It’s fly trip and very popular no. Need to hire an outfitter now but manageable with beginnings if you have guide.”
This is one of the River Guides you may want to check out. I have no experience of them but it is a start …..
