Biking- Isle of Wight – Lucy’s story

Every year Joel, Lucy, Billie and Daisy go to the Isle of Wight in mid July.

Lucy remembers.  ‘It was my Mum’s Birthday in July, just after we broke up from school, and we always rented a cottage near Freshwater or Totland. My parents, my brother and I walked up on the cliffs overlooking the Needles on Tennyson Down. Now I do it with our children, my brother and his family, it’s our family week. We would tell the story of how Tennyson would escape through a back gate onto the Downs if he didn’t want to meet a visitor.

My lot prefer bicycling. We’re doing bits of the Squirrel Trail. The whole thing is a bit long, so we started with Cowes to Newport along the River Medina.

At the end of the week we did  Newport to Sandown. It wasn’t too far, and it meant we had time  for a splash (and a pub).

Daisy and Billie want to do Ventnor Botanical Garden to St Catherines Lighthouse. Joel has his eye on Niton on the Undercliff Road.
