Last in First out – Packing the car for a trip.

When we sailed away we packed  all our belongings away, with the items we would need as soon as we arrived home e.g. winter clothes, in the last box which went into storage.

What is the FIRST thing you want as soon as you arrive at the camp site? That goes in the car last. Last in First out.

The tent is a bulky and heavy piece of kit.  (If you are hauling a dinghy, depending on how heavy the tent is, it could go in the dinghy.)

In our experience, on  arrival it will be threatening rain, well, not rain, torrential downpour. Thankfully, if  the tent is accessible, you are ahead even if you have boxes of food and cooking equipment sitting on top. The boxes with plastic lids, should be rain proof so can sit in the rain whilst you put up the tent.  You don’t want to waste time putting boxes back in the car when you could be sorting tent poles and pegs, etc.

As we know, everyones favourite phrase about camping goes, ‘mucked in’. ‘Everyone’ will help and the tent will be up before it … doesn’t rain, not a drop, dark, menacing clouds but no deluge. Dark, menacing clouds, in a circle around the camp site. Perfect donut.
