Den-izens
Whilst going for walks in the New Forest we often come across dens created from sticks lying around the woodland.
Most are made from dozens of sticks (3 foot/1 metre and above) laid up against a tree trunk, forming a circle. Some have string woven through the top and the bottom to hold the sticks in place.
An Eeyore type house can be constructed by finding two trees which can hold or have a central branch tied between the two. Branches are then leant either side.
Another way is to tie the sticks at the top in a wigwam structure. You (they) weave ferns or foliage nearby to make a more substantial and ‘private’ structure. (I have seen pictures of material wrapped around.) Note, do not damage or worse, destroy the trees, shrubs and bushes.
Den-ouement
Remember to keep some perspective, this is fun time not ancient Britain.
The more ‘amazing’ your den in the woods, the harder it will be to leave if you wish to go home to sleep in your bed. You could always find a rope swing …where there are dens… there are usually rope swings.

From a diversion on a walk all the way up to elaborate dwellings. Youtube is full of bushfolk with expertise in den building and bushcraft.
