First Steps

Quality time with families is precious
One of reasons we are here is to provide a springboard into experiences which make warm memories.
Throughout the site, you’ll find the suggestions and experience of a wide variety of people, who have captured the best of times, and who have found new places to do their favourite activities, or have found new activities in their favourite places.
It’s as easy as ‘one, two, three’ (maybe, for a particularly big adventure, ‘four’).
Go with the flow
There is so much to juggle. Perhaps best to go gently into your adventures and accept that living your best life is about accepting your short-comings, and … going with the flow. What are your safety nets, for you? Yoga? Meditation? Running?
Cynics might quip ‘Roll with the punches’.
We prefer ‘Go with the flow’

Step by step
Step by step we aim to help you and your family from backdoor to outdoor in easy steps. From making dens in the living room or garden, to walks and bike rides nearby, and, onto day trips and weekends away.
Preparation is important whether going to the movies or up a mountain. In One Day, you will find ‘First things first’ which suggests how to plan your day. We’ll start in the garden or an open space near to home, so you can nip back for the ‘just-go-gets’ e.g. more mopper uppers.
A world with gravity... and small children
Planning and timelines for two adults change when you become parents.
Let’s take it for granted that living in a world with gravity, and small children, there will be challenges.
Carpe diem
Seize the day is a great motto but with children you have to be sure that as you set off on your spontaneous activity you have the holdall with ‘all’ in it from snacks to nappy/spare pants.
Expect the unexpected
Surprises. Co-incidences – for better or worse – happen. And with children there is always a spin. If the unexpected unravels your plans? Keep going. As Nemo’s friend Dory says, “Just keep swimming … just keeping swimming.” Within walking, biking and camping there are ideas for keeping the wheels on the track to smooth the unexpected bumps in the day.

Up and away
Who knows we might attach balloons to our house and like the old man in UP fly to the deepest jungle. We may just want to blow bubbles in the park. Your Family Adventures aims to guide everyone to take their families to new experiences.
Or not. It’s your call, Maybe stay within the comfort zone, but with a little push further.
